La Piazza Press

La Piazza Press is our monthly newsletter that we use to keep everyone informed of our progress towards our goal of becoming missionaries with Saint's Equipped to Evangelize in San Lorenzo, Italy.  Our vision is to see the piazzas (town squares) filled with evangelical Christians. 

Current Happenings - January 07, 2007

Happy New Year Everyone!  We've been recalling the miracles God has provided for us this last year and wanted to share a few with you as an encouragement to the faithfulness our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

January - Tom feels God's calling to Italy.

February - We begin the 'Experiencing God' Bible study and God repeatedly confirms our call to Italy through this study.

March - We accept our call during the Global Impact Conference at McGregor Baptist Church.  Tom becomes concerned about being too old for the mission field.  A women gives us this unsolicited verse: "They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green."  Psalm 92:14  A friend who has no knowledge of our commitment calls us to say he believes we should become missionaries in Italy.

April - God provides a car for us to use until we leave for Italy.  A McGregor Sunday School Class decides to go on a mission trip to S.E.E. in Italy and invites us to go with them.

May - Tom and I talk long distance and realize that God has had us both read Luke 22:35 that morning; "When I sent you without a purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?"  God tells both of us on the same day with the same passage, "DON'T WORRY!"  Ten days later, McGregor Baptist Church agrees to financially support us.

June - We receive our first and largest contribution, $15,000. Wow!  (So, who's worried?)

July - A fellow missionary creates our website free of charge.

August - Maureen randomly meets the missions chairperson from East Swamp Church who becomes very supportive of us and our mission.

September - We go to Italy and our team accomplishes more than anyone could have dreamed or imagined.  Maureen goes to Guatemala and the team leads 15 people to salvation.

October - We are invited to participate in the G.I.C. at McGregor Baptist giving us many opportunities to share the spiritual need in Italy.

November - 140 Italians attend S.E.E.'s Thanksgiving outreach dinner and hear the gospel message (twice as many as last year).

December - The Lord blesses us with the largest number of financial gifts in a one month period.  We now have 27 financial partners.

Our God is an Awesome God!  Come and rejoice with us!

Preparations

"We press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 3:14  Currently that includes language study, support raising, and house selling. 

January Schedule

During January we will be support raising in Florida.  January 12-19, Maureen will be in leading Women's Bible Study and VBS in Haiti.

Support Update

The Lord blessed us in December with 7 new prayer partners and 8 new financial partners.  Praise the Lord!  Our greatest need is still ongoing monthly support.  Please pray for more individuals to commit to supporting us monthly.  "God owns all the cattle on a thousand hills."  Psalm 50:10  We continue to rejoice as we see cows being sacrificed for the mission field in Italy.

• The Lord has provided Tom with an interim job.

• Maureen's safety as she travels to Haiti Jan. 12-19.
