"Italy Factoid"

Italians used to be known for having large families, however Italy is now known for having Europe's lowest birthrate.  Almost 20% of its population is over 65 years old.

La Piazza Press

La Piazza Press is our monthly newsletter that we use to keep everyone informed of our progress as missionaries with Saint's Equipped to Evangelize in San Lorenzo, Italy.  Our vision is to see the piazzas (town squares) filled with evangelical Christians.  Would you be willing to share in that vision?  If so, please click the Subscribe button above to receive our monthly newsletter.  For more information, you can visit our website at www.littlesitaly.com

Ministry Highlights - July 11, 2008

Saints Bible Institute completed their first summer session at the end of June.  We had 7 students from Liberty University, a small but awesome group.  The last course was taught by Dr. Elmer Towns, the co-founder of Liberty University.  He was so impressed by S.B.I. that he is now part of the advisory board.  PTL!

We attended our annual staff meeting at the end of June here in San Lorenzo, Italy.  The meeting included staff members from both Italy and the U.S.  Dr. John McMath from Moody Bible Institute was our guest speaker.  He focused on Philippians 3:10-11, "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection of the dead."  Two points stood out to us in this study.  One, Paul wanted to know Christ so well that Christ's thoughts would be Paul's thoughts.  Two, the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings represents real worship...to be a living sacrifice as it states in Romans 12:1.  Oh how we desire a heart like his!

The day after our staff meeting, McGregor Baptist Church arrived.  Maureen was crying at the airport at the sight of so many of our friends.  How refreshing it is to have friends from home join us on the mission field!  They hit the streets running distributing tracks, performing mimes, conducting puppet shows in the park, and many other activities that support our church plant in Udine.  We had tons of meaningful conversations and the day after their arrival, a man came to our church after talking to one of our team members at a mime performance.  Short term summer teams are such a critical part of our ministry!  We have two new seekers attending our church plant generated from a spring team and it appears we will have at least one more due to the efforts of the McGregor team.  We thank you McGregor and  we thank you Jesus! We pray that all of you will come to Italy at some point and join us in our ministry.  We need you, and certainly God will use you!

Personal Highlights

Miracles upon miracles we are almost legal residents of Italy.  It has been a long drawn out process with many disappointments and discouragements, but it appears that the wait will soon be over...  thanks to our fellow missionary friends who found an English speaker at the Questura (the immigration office).  We called this person on a Wednesday, she got us an appointment with the head of immigration on Thursday, we got fingerprinted on Friday, and they said we would receive our Permissos di Sogiorno in 4 or 5 months.  So, now we wait, but this is great progress in Italian time.  We praise the Lord for this positive step!

July Schedule

Maureen leaves for Pennsylvania on July 12th.  She is completing her annual doctor visits, working on ESL curriculum, and visiting family.  Tom is working long hours with the summer mission teams and continues his administrative duties.  Please pray for stamina!

Support Update

We remain at 80% of our monthly support.  Our short fall is $972.  Please pray that the Lord will provide additional monthly supporters.  Oh how Italy needs the Good News!  We are hard pressed to do all that the ministry requires without full support.

To become a part of our financial support team, make your check payable to Saints Equipped to Evangelize.  Put our names on the memo line and indicate whether it is a special or monthly gift.  All contributions are tax deductible.  Mail your check to:
