"Italy Factoid"

Valvasone has a organ that was built around 1500 A.D.  It is the only instrument of its time to still be in use today.  In 1970, the organ was refurbished and it can be heard today during concert performances.

Ministry Highlights - March 30, 2010

Happy Easter everyone!  He is risen!  He is risen indeed!

We have so much to be thankful for this and every Easter!  We are praising Him for our lives, our salvation, and our ministry.  It has been such a rewarding semester for us here in Italy.  We are so thankful that the Lord has allowed us to serve Him.  As the saying goes, "You can't out give God", and that has been so very true of our experience here in Italy.

We must brag on the sovereignty and provision of our Lord and Savior.  We have been holding two Bible studies in our home every Tuesday.  In the afternoon, we have a Ladies study on the Book of Ruth and in the evening Sam, our director, leads an adult study.  We have 4 women coming to the Ladies study and a couple attending the evening study.  In addition, Maureen meets with a young woman named Claudia every Monday morning who helps translate the Ruth study.  The meeting with Claudia began as an Italian-English lesson exchange...which led to discussions about God...which led to the Ruth translation...which led to doing the Bible study with her.  (Isn't God great!) We have 2 returnees from last year at the Ladies study, Lilliana and Mirela, plus Santina, our downstairs neighbor, and Victoria from our ESL classes.  Claudia and Mirela are very close to understanding what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Santina seems to have a true desire to understand the truth.

Fabrizio and Eleonora come to the adult study.  We met them two years ago through the ESL classes.  Fabrizio has gone from atheism to scientology to Hinduism.  Elenora is his live in girlfriend who is 3 months pregnant and says she is catholic.  As God would have it, we ran into them providentially the day before we started the Bible study.  They have been coming to the study ever since and stay until midnight asking questions.  They are planning to come with us to church in a couple of weeks.  We have two other ESL students who have expressed interest in coming to the Bible study and we our praying that they will come this week.

Personal Highlights

We must say that we are excited by all that God is doing but we are also exhausted.  Although we have been keeping long hours, the Lord has kept us healthy all winter and we praise Him for that.  Spring has finally sprung and temperatures are in the 60's.  We will be enjoying a Pasquetta (Easter) picnic, an Italian tradition, the Monday after Easter with our church family, friends, and some ESL students.

April Schedule

We will continue are adult Bible study in Valvasone and plan to start two new Women's Bible studies...one in Valvasone and one in Udine.  Several women wanted to attend the Ruth study last month but couldn't.  So, we want to do it again at a different time frame for these women.  Our other Bible studies in Udine will continue as well.  ESL will be ending on April 29.  We will have a graduation ceremony in which we will be presenting the gospel and sharing testimonies.  We will be holding a May Day picnic for our church body and our ESL students on May 1. This is always a great time for follow up discussions after the gospel presentation.
